My journey to clay has taken me a lot of places and it has taken me quite sometime to get to this point and I have enjoyed it.

I make primarily functional work of porcelain and stoneware, using mid fire, high fire, wood fire and Raku techniques.

I have a Master’s degree in Theatre from Western Michigan University. I taught theatre at a Community College until the budget was cut for theatre, I then moved on to directing plays at various community theatres and local schools including Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

In searching for a way to relieve the workday stress I decided to take a class in pottery at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. This medium afforded me the ability to express myself in ways so very different from the theatre and so pottery became my life’s focus after that first class.

After working in the medium for 20 years, I participate in art fairs through out the state. I Exhibit in the Livingstone Studio on Beaver Island and the Day Break Gallery in Manistee. I am now an instructor at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art. All of this is truly a testament to the wonderful teachers at the KIA. With their support and vast knowledge they have taught me so much and have guided me on this journey.
